Phaeton documentation
Getting Started
Understand what Phaeton does, what you need before installation, and the normal setup order.
What Phaeton Does
Phaeton connects a supported third-party EV charger to a Victron GX system. It reads the charger over Modbus TCP and presents it to Victron as a compatible EV Charging Station.
Use Phaeton when you want your charger to appear in the GX device list, in VRM, and in the Victron power flow while keeping local control through the Phaeton web interface.
What You Need
- A supported charger with Modbus TCP enabled.
- The charger IP address or hostname.
- A Victron GX device on the same local network.
- A Phaeton release package for the target device.
- Local browser access to the Phaeton web interface.
Recommended Setup Order
- Install Phaeton on the GX device or another always-on Linux host.
- Complete the first-run onboarding wizard.
- Activate the installation.
- Configure and test the charger connection.
- Configure Victron GX data access if you want Auto mode.
- Verify live status from the dashboard before relying on automation.
