Charger Configuration
Choose the charger integration, enter its connection details, and verify communication before charging.
Charger compatibility
Each supported charger has a named integration in Phaeton. Select the integration that matches your charger model, then follow the Charger Settings Checklist chapter for the charger-side requirements.
Check the Supported chargers page for your exact model, connection requirements and available functions before buying a license.
Connection Checklist
Use the Charger Settings Checklist chapter in this guide before debugging Phaeton Auto mode thresholds.
- Confirm the charger is online.
- Enable the charger's external control interface: Modbus TCP, local HTTP, or vendor cloud access, depending on the integration.
- Enter the local charger address or the required cloud account and charger identification.
- Run the charger connection test before saving.
- When the integration offers it, run Test charger control to confirm the charger accounts for Phaeton's current setpoint.
Integration settings
Choose the named integration under Settings, then Charger & installation. Only the connection fields for that integration are shown. The app does not provide a custom register or profile editor.
Depending on the integration, you enter the charger's IP address and TCP port, its local HTTP address, or the cloud account with the charger's UUID or serial number. On a charger with two sockets, also choose the socket, 1 or 2. For most integrations, Request timeout (ms) and Maximum reading age (ms) sit under Advanced; keep their defaults unless support asks you to change them.
A changed integration or connection takes effect when you apply it, without a restart. Only switching between the dummy integration and a real charger restarts Phaeton.
Test The Charger Connection
Run the test in Settings → Charger & installation before you apply the settings. It uses the values you entered, also before you apply them.
- Test charger API reads the charger and shows its product name, serial number and firmware where the charger reports them.
- Where the integration offers them, Test charger connection reads the charger, and Test charger control writes the present current setpoint again and checks how the charger handles it. Test charger control is the only test that writes to the charger.
If a test fails:
- Confirm the charger's IP address or HTTP address, or the cloud account and charger identification.
- Confirm that the charger's control interface is enabled: Modbus TCP, local HTTP or cloud access.
- Confirm the port. For Modbus TCP it is usually 502.
- Confirm that the charger and Phaeton are on the same network and that no firewall blocks the connection between them.
- For a cloud integration, confirm that the device running Phaeton has internet access.
When Test charger control completes but reports that the setpoint is not accounted for, the charger is reachable but does not accept Phaeton as its energy management system. Check its external control settings with the Charger Settings Checklist.
Charging Limits
Set the limits of your installation under Settings → Charger & installation → Charging limits.
- Charging limit (A) is the most current Phaeton requests in any mode: Manual, Auto, Scheduled and while the Victron GX controls Auto. The lower of this limit and the charger's own maximum applies, also while Auto holds the minimum current.
- Settings refuses a charging limit above Station max current (A) or above the most the selected charger integration accepts (32 A for the integrations with a declared range), so a typo cannot raise it. A higher value kept from before is still bounded by those maximums; Settings marks it and asks for a value within the limit before it applies Settings changes.
- Single-phase only keeps every mode on one phase; see Single-phase only.
- Under Advanced, Min set current (A) is the current Auto starts at and never goes below; the GX reads it as the charger's minimum current. Station max current (A) applies until the charger reports its own maximum.
A lower limit takes effect at the next control cycle. Auto stops charging when the charger's limit falls below the minimum current. The current preset on the Charging page stays within these limits.
Charger Authorization
Phaeton does not replace RFID cards or app authorization at the charger. When the charger waits for a card or app before it allows charging, the Charging page shows Waiting for authorization, and the GX shows that the charger waits for RFID.
Try Phaeton Without A Charger
Choose Dummy — no license required as the integration to try Phaeton without a charger or a license. It simulates a charger whose power and energy stay zero. The Charging page lets you change its simulated connection, and the GX and VRM show it as Phaeton demo (zero load).
Choosing a real charger integration later restarts Phaeton and checks its license.
